The Point of Contact Gallery presents its first exhibit of 2007
A reflection on women, In Woman Veritas gives the viewer a chance to examine different creative processes and to ask questions about the ways in which truth is manifest in women. Each piece invites us to explore a variety of gray areas between reality and what we, and the artist, perceive as reality, or truth. In fact, truth can arise from a process of searching, or, conversely, can be expressed in an instant. The exhibit revolves around this idea of truth and perspective, and we are encouraged to explore both the artists’ perspectives of truth, and our own.
Photography can be a form of self exploration, for the artist as well as for the spectator. The real or the imaginary world—between these two points stretches the hard tightrope that art forces us to walk. An adventure that consists precisely in taking risks. What appears to be real is perhaps a cliché; what appears to be outside, detached —you, I— is perhaps inside: our dream world made out of light and darkness. Photography is more than plain visibility.
