In the year 2000, Pedro Cuperman and artist Izhar Patkin visited Nam June Paik in his SoHo studio. A writer and two visual artists who were friends and collaborators in the arts,
gathering to work on a cover design and an art project for the issue of Point of Contact: On Silence, which had, as a central metaphor, the figure of John Cage. And then the
question came abruptly: "Nam,
why did you eat the piano?" The response followed in Paik's terms:





The series Five Screens by Nam June Paik was published in a 5-page layout in Vol. 5, No. 2 of Point of Contact On Silence (2001).
The original piece found its home in the Point of Contact art collection.
