The ways of color as the generator and carrier
of visible forces, energies... Perez Celis, explorer of the eyes and the abstract
form, has dedicated five decades of life to painting. In February of 2003,
the Argentinean artist visited Syracuse University for a series of interviews,
conferences and workshops with faculty and students. The experience of that
visit is documented in this 30-minute video produced by Pedro Cuperman and
Owen Shapiro.
"We began with a white canvas, of course. I made a simple sketch
on paper as a point of departure to show us the way, thinking that the work
itself would reveal a number of umpredictable variations and knowing the process
would lead to discovery along the way. That's what's interesing about all
creation... the end is the product that each one will receive in his or her
own way, so each may discover something about his or her own world."
